Apple discontinues Lightening to 30-pin adaptor

Apple has discontinued its Lightning to 30-pin Adapter and has removed it from its website. The adaptor, previously listed for $29, was first released in 2012 after Apple debuted the lightening connector for all future iPads and iPhones.

There was some controversy that came with the lightening connectors, with people understandably concerned that they had to pay for another new Apple product for no good reason – but, as folk who work with charging new and old iPhones and iPads every day – that reason was a really good one. The Lightning connectors are significantly thinner and more compact than 30-pin, and way easier to use, and additionally the switch let Apple save space for other components in their mobile devices.

Apple’s iPhone 5, fourth-generation iPad, and first-generation iPad mini were some of the first devices to use the new Lightning connector, which has been present in all mobile devices since 2012.

Revamped TV App coming

Good news kids!

Apparently in the next-to-near future, Apple will provide Apple-owned and created content for FREE to customers who own devices like the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, right from the TV App. This new service will also include subscription channels where you can sign in to access content from other companies like HBO and Starz.

If you didn’t already know, you can currently watch Apple’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ series for free within the App, and with more than a dozen new original shows in the works, (and reportedly about $1 Billion being spent) there seems like there’ll be a whole lot more entertainment coming to your phone.

Apple is said to be launching an improved TV app early next year, so we should hear more about this and their original content then!

New iPad Pro to be announced

An updated iPad Pro with Face ID, as well as a new version of the Apple Pencil with an AirPods-like proximity pairing process is expected to be coming this month.

It’s unclear whether the current model of Apple Pencil will work with the new iPad or if the new Apple Pencil will be compatible with previous iPad Pro models or the sixth-generation iPad.

The new iPad Pro will purportedly have an edge-to-edge display without a home button, with Face ID instead, working in both portrait and landscape orientations.

There are also rumors that the new iPad Pro will have a rear-facing Magnetic Connector for accessories, such as a new Smart Keyboard, as well as a USB-C port, enabling 4K HDR video output to external displays.

There has no official date set for the upcoming Apple Media Event where these new releases are expected to be announced, however it is believed to be at the end of the month. We should additionally see updates to the MacBook and/or MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac mini.

We would expect to see invites to the media go out in the next couple of days, most likely Monday.
