New Apple Releases today!

Apple had a bunch of upgrades released today!

The new iPad mini, along with a revamped full size iPad, a 13- inch Macbook Pro with retina display and a new superslim iMac update. Let’s have a look!

# The 13 Inch Macbook Pro with retina display comes with a hefty price tag – $1699 (With free shipping)- but with over 4 million pixels making the screen pop with vibrant color and amazing quality,  this model being the  lightest Macbook Pro– and with incredible power, storage capability and speed, it is apparently well worth it for professionals who can afford it.

Considered to be very similar in performance to using the 15-inch model that was released over summer, the advantage of the 13-inch is that it is significantly lighter- by almost a pound.

It is generally agreed that Apple are making the Macbook Pro their flagship laptop– the one that elicits all the gasps, the one that is the dream laptop, and according to all sources, they are well on their way.

#The new iMac update comes with an all-new design– impressively reducing the thickness of the machine ( 40% less volume than the previous model) , drastically improving the speed of the machine and totally re-engineering the widescreen display.

The new machines come in 21.5 inch and 27-inch displays that have been improved by adding an anti-reflective coating– making it 75% less reflective, and by moving the LCD right up behind the cover glass making the display a lot clearer and brighter.

The machine also comes with 60% faster graphics, a brand new ‘fusion drive’ which combines huge storage capacity with lightening fast speeds. This combined with the latest Intel quad-core processers means that this machine packs a lot of power- and a lot of speed.
The 21.5 inch will be available in November at a starting cost of $1299, and the 27-inch will be available in December at a starting cost of $1799.

#With the new iPad mini weighing in at half the weight of the full size iPad (.68 pounds), and the screen being two-thirds smaller ( 7.9 inches rather than 9.7) , the first impressions out is that yes, the mini iPad is small, but it is not tiny or dinky. Having kept the impressive build and feel of the full sized iPad it has the same feeling of the iPhone 5- amazingly light in the hand and yet you still feel like the device is a serious one.

The screen resolution is impressive for it’s size with the same number of pixels present as on the iPad and iPad 2, it has a front facing and back facing camera, up to 10 hours of battery life, a fast A5 processing chip, and all apps made for the iPad are able to be used on the iPad mini.

Apple aren’t really entering into the tablet wars as much as a lot of people thought- rather, they are just releasing an extremely good, smaller version of a very good device. Prices start at $329, with pre-orders starting October 26th.

#The fourth generation iPad was also released today, with an upgraded A6X chip that makes it run twice as fast as the previous model whilst still retaining the 10 hours of battery.  It also comes with Apple’s new lightening connecter and and wifi speeds that are up to twice as fast as the previous model.
The new model comes in the same storage and pricing configuration as the previous iPad, starting at $499 for the 16gb wifi models. Preorders start October 26th.

In good guy Apple news, customers who are understandably annoyed that they purchased the 3rd generation iPad within the last 30 days will be able to swap out the two devices at *certain* Apple retail stores at no extra cost. Customers are advised to call ahead because the option to swap the iPads is not made by Apple, but is instead a store by store policy.

And that’s a wrap! We hope you guys enjoy these products if you can!

Awesome Sneak Peaks of iPhone 5 (3D Images)

iPhone 5 in White

Today, we’ve got some really excellent models of the iPhone 5 that have been drawn up.  This is exactly how we imagine the iPhone 5 will look and given that several parts have been leaked, it seems like they match this quite well and it is highly likely the iPhone will be almost exactly the same as these models.

Looks pretty sharp in our opinion.  As you can see, the screen is just a tad longer, bringing the display to about 4″ with a full 16×9 view for movies.  Additionally, there is the new smaller dock port on the bottom, next to the headphone port which has been relocated from the top of the iPhone to the bottom.  Other than that it looks pretty similar to the last model of iPhone with the exception of the metal back as opposed to the previous glass backing (which tended to crack).

Overall, we’re pretty excited!

Hands on with Leaked iPhone 5 Parts (Video)

iPhone 5 Parts Leaked

We got it!  A hands on Video of the iPhone 5 Frame!  The parts have been leaked and we are fairly confident that this is the actual iPhone 5 that will be released.  While This video does not contain the LCD screen, it is fairly easy to image how it would look.  Almost exactly the same as the iPhone 4/4S but with a slightly taller screen.  We have also heard word that the Front-facing camera will now be centered above the earpiece on the phone.

So to round up the details that are gone over in the video, it looks like we have a new, smaller dock connector, the headphone plugin has been moved to the bottom of the iPhone, the sim card tray is smaller, the iPhone is about half an inch taller, and it is made as one solid piece now (as opposed to the iPhone 4/4s which had two pieces for the midframe and back).

Pretty cool stuff we got here.  It is definitely going to be a clean looking phone, with a new, albeit slightly, form factor.

Check out the video below!

Enjoy!

Why the next iPhone won’t be an iPhone 5

The Next iPhone Won't be Called an iPhone 5

The new iPhone that is having an anticipated release of either this summer or early fall won’t be called the iPhone 5.  Here’s why:

The iPhone has had some rather peculiar names in its past when you really think about it.  The very first iPhone was simply called an iPhone.  This makes sense as it was the first of its kind.  But here is where the confusion comes in.  The next year, Apple released the new iPhone, which included the 3G network.  Rightfully so, they labeled this iPhone, the iPhone 3G.

From that point on, the iPhone naming scheme got a bit more complicated.  For some reason, the first iPhone can be referred to as both a 1G and 2G iPhone.  One referring to the network before 3G (and calling it 2G) and the other referring to the 1st Generation of iPhone (1G).

Then to make matters more confusing, for Apple’s next release (their third iPhone), they simply added an S to the name, to make it an iPhone 3GS.  At this point, the naming scheme started to make sense again.  Their 3rd iPhone actually had a 3 in the name (albeit so did the previous 2nd generation iPhone, the 3G).

Then Apple came out with the iPhone 4 in June of 2010.  Their 4th iPhone, released with the quite simple name iPhone 4.  It seemed like the naming/numbering scheme with iPhones would all fall back into place with this generation, and it would be simple to refer to iPhone’s by their generational number.  The 4th iPhone could be referred to as the 4G, and so on.

Everyone assumed that the 5th generation of iPhone would be called the iPhone 5.  But…  It wasn’t.  It was called the iPhone 4S.  So the 5th generation iPhone is called 4S.  Seems a bit confusing, but thats the way it is.

This next iPhone, however, won’t be called the iPhone 5.  It would be a mistake on Apple’s marketing to do such a failure of a name.  Why would you name the 6th iPhone, iPhone 5?!  Especially when they had the lead-up setup from the 2nd iPhone to skip a generation (since the iPhone 3G was actually the 2nd generation).

I predict that the new iPhone will be called something new.  There is potential that it will be called the iPhone 6, but given that there was no distinct “iPhone 5” released, I anticipate they will choose a new name, something likely without reliance on the numbering system.  A new name for the iPhone could come with something like iPhone X, although it is unlikely that Apple would choose that name given that Droid has already used it for their hardware.  iPhone Z?  Maybe they will go back to the basics, and call it something simple “The iPhone” or “The New iPhone”.  iPhone Air?   iPhone Mini?  iPhoneHD?  iPhone Chrome?

I guess well just have to wait and find out!

The iPhone 5 – Release and Specifications Rumors

Some Possible Specs for the new iPhone 5

Listed above in this graphic we made are some of the most prevalent iPhone 5 rumors that we could find out there.  Some ideas may have seemed pretty obvious like a possible larger screen or a new revised form factor for the iPhone 5.  Additionally, it is quite likely we will see either a June or October release date.  Apple has followed this in the past, and it seems likely that they would do the same for the iPhone 5.

In line with previous iPhone releases, it would make sense to see the iPhone 5 have a new upgraded 128GB model.  This would increase the size from the current maximum of the 64GB model.  With the passed two iPhone releases both having 720P video, it seems like it would be time to upgrade to the highly anticipated 1080P, Full HD, video recording to stay competitive against other smart phones in the industry.

While the iPhone 4S saw an upgrade to the processor, it is still quite possible that we will see an even faster processor in the upcoming iPhone 5 release, although it is more likely we will see some of the other features mentioned first.  Same deal with the camera, while the iPhone 4S saw an improvement in camera quality, the iPhone 5 could add a few megapixels for an even stronger release, likely upgrading to 10MP.

Recently, new rumors regarding an in-cell touchscreen for the iPhone have been anounced, leading to speculation that the new iPhone could be slightly thinner than previous generations, making this the thinnest iPhone yet!  Finally, there have been leaked images of iPhone 5 replacement home buttons, which show that the iPhone 5 will have a different body than previous generations (although the home button will actually appear the same).

That’s it for now, but stay tuned for all the newest updates with regard to the new iPhone 5!

AT&T Will Unlock Your iPhone if You are Off Contract!

Unlock Your iPhone

AT&T will now finally allow you to unlock your iPhone starting today.  This is a really great change for anyone that is currently using AT&T as their service provider and has had their iPhone long enough that they are off contract (essentially eligible for an upgrade).

Having an unlocked iPhone is great for several reasons.  One of the biggest being that the iPhone is actually worth more than a “locked” iPhone.  So if you were to sell your iPhone, you would likely be able to get more money for selling your iPhone.  Additionally, you will have the availability to switch carriers to another GSM carrier such as T-Mobile.  And another final benefit that is great is the availability to use your iPhone in different countries with local carriers (previously you would need to use AT&T as your sole service provider which would be much more expensive).

You can unlock your iPhone at an AT&T store, or even via online chat.  The only information that you need to unlock your iPhone is your IMEI number which is located in Settings -> General -> About  on your iPhone.

Once you have finished the process, Apple actually emails the unlock code for your iPhone to your email address.  Then simply unlock your iPhone using the code!

Should be really valuable for a lot of people!  Hope this helps!

How to Restore Your iPhone From a Backup

There are  a few cases in which being able to restore your iPhone can be a valuable thing to know. Take for example, if your iPhone was stolen, or you accidentally deleted a funny video off of your iPhone, or maybe you even accidentally erased the whole iPhone!  Either way,  it is pretty easy to restore your iPhone to its previous state provided that you made a backup (to learn how to create a backup see here).

Restore Your iPhone from a Backup

The First thing you’ll need to do is to plug your iPhone into the computer with your backup on it and turn on iTunes.

Secondly, in iTunes, under devices, find your iPhone.

Right click on this iPhone and click “Restore from Backup”.

Select the proper backup from the selection of previous backups and click ok.

iTunes will go through and restore your iPhone so that it is the exact state of your old iPhone.

Enjoy!

Erase Your iPhone and Restore to Factory Settings

There are a few different reasons why you may want to restore your iPhone to its factory settings.  One of the main reasons would be if you were selling the iPhone.  If you are selling your iPhone it is a good idea to erase all of your data to ensure data security.  When you sell your iPhone to the iPhone Antidote (see here), we securely erase all of the data, but some other companies or other methods of selling your iPhone may not be as secure.

Erase Your iPhone to Factory Settings

Follow the directions below to erase all of the data on your iPhone and restore it back to it’s factory settings.

First, turn your iPhone on and go to settings.

Next, go to General.

At the bottom of the General screen you should see an option for reset, click this.

Now click “Erase All Content and Settings

This will erase everything on your iPhone and restore it back to it’s factory settings.
