You can sign up to be an organ donor in iOS 10

iOS 10 is set to be released to the public in the Fall. A lot of the features were, of course, revealed at WWDC 2016, however new pieces of information are coming to light.

One feature that sounds wonderful, is that in the Health app of iOS 10, users will have the ability to sign up as an organ, eye and tissue donor with one tap.

With the option, you’ll be enrolling in the National Donor Registry, with all organ, eye, and tissue donor registrations submitted from your iPhone sent directly to the National Donate Life Registry managed by Donate Life America. Tim Cook has said that he hopes this will ease a longstanding donor shortage. This shortage is something that he saw face to face when Steve Jobs had to wait for a liver transplant back in March 2009.

From the Sauce:

“Apple’s mission has always been to create products that transform people’s lives. With the updated Health app, we’re providing education and awareness about organ donation and making it easier than ever to register. It’s a simple process that takes just a few seconds and could help save up to eight lives,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “Together with Donate Life America, we’re excited to deliver this new feature to iPhone users in the US with iOS 10.”

The U.S government is currently pushing an initiative to speed up the donor and matching service, and it’s a problem that other tech companies such as Facebook, Google and Twitter are working on.

According to government statistics, someone is added to the national organ transplant waiting list every 10 minutes and 22 people die while waiting for life-saving transplants every day.

iPhone 7 will almost definitely start at 32GB

It’s been rumored for a while now, but it seems like the iPhone 7 will almost definitely start at 32GB in stead of the standard 16GB.

16GB has been the norm starter iPhone ever since the iPhone 3GS, but in a world where so much of our lives are spend on our phones – 16GB is not- and has not for a while- been enough. A lot of people have commented that the 16GB option is just so that the iPhone has a lower price point – but in reality it’s to push buyers past the lower price point option and spend the extra $100 for the 64 GB option.

Current storage options are 16GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

The storage options for iPhone 7 are believed to be 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. There is also the strong possibility that the larger models will have the option of getting 256GB.
The bump from 16GB to 32GB of entry-level storage has already been widely rumored by multiple Asian sources connected with Apple’s supply chain, but confirmation from The Wall Street Journal makes the claim much more credible.

The iPhone 7 is rumored to not have significant changes, but will be thinner, with no headphone jack. The possibilities of better waterproofing and camera improvements is also there, as it always is.

Netflix without WiFi? Huh?

There’s a rumor in Rumorville, Tech Street, that by the end of the year, everyone’s favorite chill spot, Netflix, will allow users to download content to watch without an internet connection. IT’S THE FUTURE, GUYS.

So you’re on a plane, or stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere, and you want to CHILL, right? Maybe not the, uh, way the cool kids say it, but actually chill, with some of your favorite shows. BUT you have no internet connection!

Well, by the end of the year, reportedly and hopefully, that will no longer be a problem! Netflix has yet to comment on this possibility, and not all content will be available for copyright reasons – mainly Netflix originals.

Hello Orange Is The New Black with no internet!

Apple to buy Tidal?

Last week it was reported that Apple was in talks to buy Jay-Z’s music service Tidal, to maximize the users for their n music Service – Apple Music.

The story was broken by The Wall Street Journal, and these talks – spoken about by people ‘familiar with the matter’ – may not actually result in any deal. Neither company has commented on the rumor.

Beyonce’s Lemonade helped in the surge in popularity of Tidal earlier this year after it struggled to get market share. The streaming service focuses on exclusivity rather than the ability to access a lot of different music.

Tidal subscriptions cost $10 or $20 monthly, depending on if you want high-fidelity sound. There has been not mention of how much Apple would think Tidal is worth.

Do you think Apple will buy Tidal? Do you think it would help them boost Apple Music?
