Happy iPad Tuesday!
Time flies when you’re having fun, right? We’ve all been having fun, right? Just ten years ago, we were introduced to the wondrous device that is the iPad.
It all went down at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, and it was one of the last major products that he unveiled before his death in 2011.
Whilst doing so, he said:
“iPad is our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price,” said Jobs. “iPad creates and defines an entirely new category of devices that will connect users with their apps and content in a much more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before.”
That original iPad featured a 9.7-inch display, a single-core Apple A4 processor, up to 64GB of storage, 256MB of RAM, an advertised 10 hours of battery life, Bluetooth 2.1, a 30-pin dock connector, and a headphone jack. Wi-Fi-only models started at $499, while models with both Wi-Fi and 3G cellular connectivity started at $629. Notably, the original iPad lacked cameras.
Apple released the iPad on April 3, 2010 and, one day later, the company announced that it had already sold over 300,000 iPads. Since that time, Apple has released a new generation of the iPad every year, as well as Pro’s, Air’s and Mini’s coming to the party.

Apple will reportedly be launching a new fifth-generation iPad mini model as well as a new entry-level iPad.
The new model – if real – is said to have an upgraded processor and a lower-cost display panel, whereas the entry-level iPad will feature a 10-inch display within a narrower frame. There is also the possibility of two different versions of the entry level iPad.
The current entry level iPad supports Apple Pencil and is priced starting at $329.
By the way – How are we talking about 2019 already? Like it’s next week or something? Slow down, time.
There were some who were a little disappointed last week during the Apple Special Media Event, and that’s in large part because there was some expectation of a new iPad model being announced.
It was not.
So will we be getting a new iPad any time soon?
Well folks, looks like the answer is yes.
It appears as though the release of iOS 12.1 has given some small hints that lead us to the release of a new 2018 Fall iPad, one with a TrueDepth camera which means that you could sync your Memoji between your iPhone and your iPad – a feature that is now possible thanks to iOS 12.1.
The good guys over at 9To5Mac additionally noticed that when looking at the Setup app, which is the app that runs when you set up a new device, there was a new identifier for a “2018 fall” iPad. The previous version of the app only included identifiers for the 2018 iPhones.
So, looks like we’ll be seeing a new iPad at an October Apple Event, as well as possibly some new Macs. Rumors suggest the new iPads will most likely be iPad Pros that will feature USB-C connectivity instead of Lightning.
Apple has just announced an event focusing on the all important arena of technology in education. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 27 at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago, with the keynote, centered around “creative new ideas for teachers and students”, commencing at 10:00 a.m. Central Time.

The last time Apple held a similar event was in New York City in January 2012, where it announced iBooks 2 with interactive textbooks, iBooks Author, and a new version of iTunes U for iPad.
So what should we expect this time around? There’s a bunch of rumors swirling already about possible hardware and software announcements that could be made during the event, including :
iOS 11.3 availability with ClassKit
A cheaper 9.7 inch iPad for education for $259, currently it’s price point is $329.
A cheaper MacBook Air for $799 to $899, currently it’s price point starts at $999.

We can look forward to hearing the facts on March 27th!

Apple has raised the prices on all of its 256 and 512GB iPad Pro models.
All 256 and 512GB 10.5 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are $50 more expensive, which means for the 10.5 model, the prices are now $649 for the 64GB model, $799 for the 256GB model, and $999 for the 512GB model.
For the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, prices are now $799 for the 64GB model, $949 for the 256GB model, and $1149 for the 512GB model. All cellular models are an additional $130 over the above listed prices.
Not all retailers have updated this price, and it’s not really clear why the prices have changed, but keep it in mind if you’re about to buy an iPad Pro!
When T-Mobile first began offering cellular iPads in the fall of 2013, they included a plan that provided customers with 200MB of free LTE data each month for the entire life of the tablet.
As of May 7, 2017, Free Data for Life is no longer available for new activations. If you signed up for FDFL on or before May 6, 2017, you can keep it with your current tablet as long as you own and use your tablet with T-Mobile.
T-Mobile currently offers just one data plan, T-Mobile One, with unlimited data. T-Mobile One customers can add a tablet to their plans for $20 per month.
It’s not like Apple is a totally mysterious company when it comes to launching new products, right?
Uh…. not right. So here’s what we’re looking at, rumor-wise for the possibly upcoming announcement of a new iPad:
First week of April, Apple will announce two new iPads at an event that will be marking the inauguration of its Apple Park campus. When we say first week of April, we mean from approximately March 20th to mid April.
Apple plans to target the education and business sectors with a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro and a refreshed 12.9-inch model.
The 12.9-inch iPad will probably only feature small upgrades, but the 10.5-inch model might feature a nearly bezel-free edge-to-edge display.
What do you think would be some sweet iPad Pro upgrade features? What would make you want to upgrade?
