The eBay seller who sold Drake the original jacket has another, and has this one listed for, uh, a little bit more monies… Right now the starting bid is at $3,999, with a buy it now price of $9,999, although there has been no bids so far and there’s only about 18 hours left on the auction, so maybe people aren’t that excited.

Careful what you recycle there lady!

I think we can all agree that recycling is a good thing, and that we should all do it. Sometimes, however, you should probably take a minute to consider what you’re recycling.

A lady in Silicon Valley did a great thing recently by dropping off a bunch of old electronics, including an old computer, to a local recycling center after she cleaned out her garage.

That would have been the end of a short feel good story, however, she didn’t take a minute to look at what she was recycling! Understandable – old electronics tend to look like the stinky junk they mostly end up being.

Not this time though! What she dropped off, in fact, wasn’t a stinky old computer that needed recycling, but a collectible item worth $200,000.

Eep.

The old computer- one of only about 200 1st generation Apple 1 computers assembled by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne in 1976 in fact – wasn’t taken out of the box until weeks later by the employees at Clean Bay Area, and the lady didn’t leave her contact information when she dropped the computer off.

The recycling firm is now searching for the lady to give her 50% of the $200,000 price tag they sold the computer for.

The message here – be careful what you recycle! Rest assured that if you send us the very first beta iPhone to recycle we’ll give it right back to you with a nod in the direction of where you should be selling it! Or, we’ll pay you a princely sum ourselves! Or, princessely. Whatever you like, you’re the one with the 1st iPhone.

Magic phone machine, sound system, camera, video system, social media manager, and… bodyguard?

We’re talking the iPhone here, folks. And yeah, this time, it was a literal lifesaver… not the delicious mint, but an ACTUAL HUMAN LIFESAVER.

Woah.

A dude in Britain nobly went to confront a group of less noble dudes who had shut off the water to a block of apartments. During that confrontation, one of the teenagers, a young 19 year old in fact, shot the noble dude!! Wot!

According to ITV news –

“Fortunately, the victim’s mobile phone took the brunt of the shot, and, as a result of this, he survived,” Gary McIntyre from the Cheshire Police told the news site, which has pictures of the damaged phone. “This is remarkable — had that phone not been in his pocket at that time he would undoubtedly have died.”

Woah. Here’s the damage the iPhone took to the back in order to save the dude’s life:

The shooter has since been found guilty of attempted murder as well as possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and is due to be sentenced on 10 July.

The iPhone, meanwhile, was mortally wounded but will be forever remembered as the hero that all little iPhones dream of.

Google’s Project Tango

Google’s Project Tango is now for sale. Aimed at developers and invite only, the device sells for $512 and, in Google’s words, “combines 3D motion tracking with depth sensing to give your mobile device the ability to know where it is and how it moves through space.”
