New iPad Pro to be announced

An updated iPad Pro with Face ID, as well as a new version of the Apple Pencil with an AirPods-like proximity pairing process is expected to be coming this month.

It’s unclear whether the current model of Apple Pencil will work with the new iPad or if the new Apple Pencil will be compatible with previous iPad Pro models or the sixth-generation iPad.

The new iPad Pro will purportedly have an edge-to-edge display without a home button, with Face ID instead, working in both portrait and landscape orientations.

There are also rumors that the new iPad Pro will have a rear-facing Magnetic Connector for accessories, such as a new Smart Keyboard, as well as a USB-C port, enabling 4K HDR video output to external displays.

There has no official date set for the upcoming Apple Media Event where these new releases are expected to be announced, however it is believed to be at the end of the month. We should additionally see updates to the MacBook and/or MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac mini.

We would expect to see invites to the media go out in the next couple of days, most likely Monday.
