So we’ve all heard about the forecasted decline in Apple sales, but, to quote Nicki Minaj, Apple, What’s good?
As we talked about in our original Apple earnings call report, both the Apple Watch and the Apple TV set new quarterly sales records in 1Q 2016.
The Apple TV saw its best quarter ever following the launch of the fourth-generation device.
Exact sales prices of both devices aren’t known, as tricky Apple puts them into an “Other” category – one that also includes iPods and Beats headphones. Revenue for the Other category jumped from $2.7 billion in 1Q2015 to $4.35 billion in 1Q2016.
Overall, it was a record quarter for Apple with $18.4 billion in profit on $75.9 billion in revenue.
All about.. Apps? And how they’re the future of TV? We don’t know, you should probably just watch it. Just kidding, we watched it and as per usual – they’re probably right.
During this week’s earnings call for the first fiscal quarter of 2016 (fourth calendar quarter), Tim Cook talked about up-and-coming-tech-that-will-take-over-the-world-as-we-know-it-virtual reality.
Here’s what he said:
“It’s really cool, and it has some interesting applications.”
Vague much. Rumors have it that Apple does have a team of employees working in the VR field, and just last week hired leading virtual reality expert, Doug Bowman. They have also made some recent VR- ish acquisitions like augmented reality startup Metaio, real-time motion capture firm Faceshift, and expression analysis startup Emotient.
